Previously tried installing Nix many months ago, and it failed, so haven't used it.

with the UID 30000. This script can't really handle
that right now, so I'm going to give up.

You can export NIX_BUILD_GROUP_ID=30000 and re-run.

Since you haven't been using nix and the installer was updated to use new uid/gids to support Sequoia, I'd just follow the uninstall instructions before reinstalling it: https://nixos.org/manual/nix/stable/installation/uninstall.html#macos
