Hello, I'd like to propose the idea of the plugin being able to keep the stream alive and running when the source is not visible, as media and VLC sources already allow. This way, when previewing the source, the stream can be seen playing.

Do you mean allowing the stream to be running when the scene containing the source is not active?

If you mean keeping the source running when it is invisible but the scene is active, it's not recommended because turning the source on and off is the way to "refresh" the source. We can't enable this until another way of refreshing the source is implemented.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant, thanks for the quick answer.
Is "refreshing" the source needed for the stream to play? Cause I've been able to play .m3u8 streams using the VLC source and streamlink is capable of reloading tokens itself right? Just trying to understand why it can't be done :)

The reason why it can't be done is that if such option is enabled on one source, you'll no longer be able to "refresh" or even stop the stream, because we now rely on making the source invisible and visible again to refresh it. Therefore we need to find another way of triggering a source refresh (a button in the properties window maybe we should use media-* APIs).

Oh okay, I understand now. Thanks for taking the time to answer me. I've searched all over the Internet for a plugin that allows for stream playing in obs and this the only I've found (and that works flawless). That's why I'd really appreciate if this feature could be taken into account as it is the only way I have right now to achieve what I'm looking for. Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to answer my proposal ;)
