AMP page redirect for Brave Browser configuration on Android?

I was configuring my little sibling's Brave Browser on her Android phone following the Privacy Guides webpage on web browsers.

After a while, I decided to recheck if I had missed anything, so I looked at my own phone's configuration to compare and saw that I did not select "Auto-redirect AMP pages" on hers like I did for my own configuration. I then rechecked Privacy Guides' webpage again and saw that there were actually no instructions for redirecting AMP pages.

I was sort of confused because I remember hearing about AMP pages being a bad thing a few months ago (though I cannot remember where specifically).

Can anyone explain why it isn't a suggested configuration? Not a particularly techie person, by the way.

Oh, well that makes sense. Weird how it wasn't enabled on her phone. Maybe I accidentally fat-thumbed it prior somehow. Anyway, thanks.

AMP is something Google made to have page loading faster, but it means you directly using Google. Brave added that feature to bypass AMP feature and go to original website
