What about mupdf? #469
-
I use mupdf daily both on my phone and my computer (using zathura with mupdf backend). I would like to know what are the thoughts on it, as it does not require crazy permissions (doesn't have internet access) and zathura seems to have some sandboxing, don't know about the mobile app though. One other good thing is that the android app is avaliable on both google play and f-droid. |

It's unclear what's being proposed here. Where would this recommendation go if it were to be accepted? Currently, we recommend GrapheneOS's PDF viewer for Android here: https://www.privacyguides.org/android/#secure-pdf-viewer (It can also be installed outside of GrapheneOS). Regarding desktop devices, I would say that people are probably better of with whatever viewer their device comes with, or even the browser. Happy to hear more arguments in favor of looking into this, however. |

Do note many apps on Android use horrifically outdated PDF libraries: https://divestos.org/misc/appsec.txt GrapheneOS PDF Viewer is good as long as your WebView is up-to-date. |

Otherwise these ones usually update quickly: MuPDF viewer, MuPDF mini, Librera Reader
